urban planners are closing streets
and expanding areas tailored to
foot traffic. This isn’t just an
effort to promote it, but rather a
necessity to keep up with the growing demand. This is the “Rise
of the Planet of the Pedestrians,”
a byproduct of this green-focused,
technology-charged world we now
live in. Cities are denser, more
expensive and services are more accessible, so citizens of the world
are hitting the streets in record
numbers.

The technology industry,
particularly in the gadget sectors,
has taken notice, and this isn’t just
a matter of personal gadgets
becoming smaller and easier to
manipulate, which would have occurred anyway. We’re witnessing
a real focus in terms of the
features in electronics, such as
smart headphones that allow
wearers to hear danger noises, like
horn blasts and shouts, and the types of apps that are becoming
available, such as pedestrian
navigation and augmented reality
software.
